Cleveland Metroparks Ranger Department employs 85 sworn law enforcement officers. Both full-time and part-time rangers provide protection and safety for Cleveland Metroparks visitors, employees, properties, and adjacent areas. Rangers enforce state laws and park district regulations, and enhance visitors' experiences through assistance, information, and education.

Conduct preventative patrols of parkways, trails, facilities, and natural resources within the Park District. Enforce state laws and park district regulations.

Respond to crimes, complaints, and calls for service within park boundaries. Investigate offenses, and present evidence and testify in court. Provide mutual aid and assistance to other law enforcement agencies.
Provide traffic direction and control during special events and emergencies.

Administer first aid to injured persons.

Provide positive public service, assistance, information, and education. Perform a variety of public relations functions, including group presentations and community outreach programs.



EDUCATION - FULL-TIME: Associates degree or equivalent course work, or a higher educational degree.

EDUCATION - PART-TIME: Completion of one year of college course work towards a degree.

Minimum 21 years of age.

United States citizen and resident of Ohio.

Certified by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission.

Possess a valid Ohio driver's license.

Experience as a law enforcement officer in Ohio is preferred.

Sound physical condition, with height and weight corresponding.

20/60, correctable to 20/20, vision in both eyes; absence of color blindness.

Pass a background investigation including drug, polygraph, and psychological tests.

No felony, domestic violence, or other serious convictions or admissions.

Willing to work all shifts, holidays, and weekends.
