RANGERS WIN TOP AWARD AT OHIO PARKS & RECREATION ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE

Captain Daniel Veloski and Chief Gregory M. Loftus accept the award
Cleveland Metroparks Rangers received the Superior Award in Law Enforcement programs with the implementation of Emergency Drill Exercises for employees across the Park District.
Training coordinator, Captain Daniel Veloski explains, “The instructional purposes were threefold: 1) to acquaint Cleveland Metroparks employees with emergency actions steps using practices and demonstrations; 2) to evaluate a group’s collective readiness to respond to emergencies; and 3) to encourage preparation by reviewing procedures, reading plans and practicing responses.”
A preliminary goal to involve three hundred employees was set for the program’s first year. The Ranger Department designed the instruments that would be necessary to facilitate the series of the 2 to 3 hour emergency drills.
To date, 400 employees have attended 27 different emergency exercises totaling more than 1,000 hours of training.
