The Traffic Unit ensures the safety of motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians on the Park District's 100 miles of parkways. Traffic Unit rangers enforce rules of the road, investigate serious crashes, and provide traffic control at special events throughout the Park District. To provide the safest environment for visitors and commuters, the Traffic Unit participates in national and statewide traffic safety campaigns.

Traffic unit rangers also promote traffic safety at public relations events throughout the Park District and local communities.

Rangers are also deployed in the following specialized divisions:

• K-9 Unit
