Reel Paddling Film Festival

The international Reel Paddling Film Festival tour is back!  Enjoy an evening watching some of the best water oriented films in the world. See epic sea kayaking journeys, whitewater kayaking, canoeing and more. We’ve selected the best films to watch; full of action, scenic journeys and great stories.

Film 1 – Islands of Fire
Voted – Best Sea Kayaking Film
Duration: 27:31 min.
Justine Curgenven joins local Italian paddlers on a tour of the warm turquoise waters in Sicily’s Aeolian Islands. Explore rugged coastline and crossing between islands with dolphins and turtles. This charming film offers an insight into the Italian way of life, with good food and good humor.

Film 2 – Seasons: Fall
Voted – Best Amateur Paddling Film
Duration: 3:34 min.
Deep canyons with steep, spring-fed creeks make White Salmon, Washington, a paddling paradise. White Salmon local Kate Wagner lets viewers know why she loves kayaking here so much.

Film 3 – Solo
Voted - Best Paddling Documentary Film
Duration: 30 min.
On January 11, 2007, Andrew McAuley set out to become the first person to kayak from Australia to New Zealand across one of the world’s wildest and loneliest stretches of ocean. Thirty days later, maritime authorities received his distress call. McAuley lost his life only a day from completing his journey.

Kayak Kevin and crew spend a year angling from their kayaks at world class fishery, Chesapeake Bay.

Film 5 – The Book of Legends
Voted – Best Paddling Adventure Travel Film
Duration: 20:55 min.
In 1975, Russian explorer Igor Bazilevski and his team of 10 men attempted the first descent of the Bashkaus River in Siberia. Tragically, Bazilevski and half of his team drowned. In 2010, an international team of whitewater kayakers travelled to Siberia in search of Bazilevski’s elusive goal.

Film 6 – Dream Result
Duration: 3:24 min.
This film includes footage of the world record waterfall descent of 186-foot Palouse Falls, expeditions into the wilderness of northern Quebec and a quest for waterfalls throughout Chile and Scandinavia. Driven by passion, nine of the sport’s top athletes and lifelong friends spend a year chasing their Dream Result.

Film 7 – The Big River
Duration: 14:21 min.
The Mackenzie River in Canada’s Northwest Territories carves a 1,730 kilometer long journey to the Arctic Ocean through Precambrian Shield, the Rocky Mountains and arctic tundra. In July 2010, Robin Bourke and Adam Woogh gave themselves three weeks to paddle this artery from Fort Providence to the Arctic Ocean.

Film 8 – Living the Stoke
Voted – Best Stand Up Paddling Film
Duration: 24:59 min.
Eight close mates decide to take their stand-up paddle boards to the remote, war-torn wilderness of Paupua, New Guinea. Bringing with them school books, clothes and other essentials the locals need, the paddlers stay with villagers, sharing their culture and living the stoke.

No club boaters were (intentionally) harmed during the making of this film.
