2007 Walking Works Walks

Bedford Reservation

Buckeye Trail/Bridle Trail & All Purpose Trail 2 miles (3)
Take I-480 to Broadway Ave. (Rt. 14). Turn left. Stay on Broadway to Union St.   Turn right on Union St. then right on Egbert Rd. Turn right Gorge Parkway to Tinkers Creek Gorge Scenic Overlook. At parking lot cross road and go left along the bridle trail. Cross road again, following the trail to Bridal Veil Falls. Continue up the stairs and follow the all purpose trail to the right back to Scenic Overlook.

 

Big Creek Reservation

Beyer's Pond Trail .7 miles (1)
Take I-71 to Rt. 42 (Pearl Rd.), turn right on Whitney, turn right on Big Creek Parkway. This easy level, woodchip trail circles Beyer's Pond which attracts abundant wildlife such as ducks, geese, frogs and dragonflies. Easy place to take side trips and add miles to your walk.

 

Brecksville Reservation

Hemlock Loop Trail   2.5 miles (3)
Take I-77 to Rt. 82 east. Turn right on Chippewa Creek Dr. Start at Brecksville Nature Center and follow Hemlock Loop Trail signs. See early fall color on this walk along Chippewa Creek Gorge. This wooded walk has several big hills and stairs.

 

Brookside Reservation

All Purpose Trail 2.5 miles (2)
Take John Nagy Blvd. straight to the Event Site shelterhouse. Cross the bridge that leads to a large parking lot. Go up steps on left and follow sidewalk. Walk down wooden ramp, cross over bridge. Turn right and follow the all purpose trail west along John Nagy Blvd. At bend in trail turn left and go up the hill. A wetlands area will be on your right. Go left at "Y" past the playground.   Keep to the left. At next "Y" go right.   At "T" turn right. Keep right, pass the playground again and go over the bridge. Take the steps down to the ball fields to shelterhouse.

 

Garfield Park Reservation

Mill Creek Falls Loop Trail 2.5   (1)
Take I-480 to Broadway. Turn right. Turn left on Garfield Park Blvd. Follow the paved all purpose trail from Windy Ridge Picnic Area north to the awesome 48-foot Mill Creek Falls. Take same trail for return trip.

 

Hinckley Reservation

Worden's Ledges Loop Trail 1 mile (2)
Take I-71 to Rt. 3. Go east on Rt. 3. Stay to right on ledge Road. Start at Worden Ledges Trailhead west of State Road. This wooded trail winds down moss and fern covered ledges to reveal carvings by Noble Stuart.

 

Huntington Reservation

Hemlock Trail .8 miles (1)
Take I-90 to Crocker-Bassett exit. Go north on Crocker Road to Lake Road. Turn right on Lake Road. Turn right on Porter Creek Drive, then left at "Y". Start at Wolf Picnic Area.

 

Mill Stream Run Reservation

Bonnie Park Loop Trail .6 miles    (1)
Take I-71 to Rt. 82. Turn right on Rt. 82. Turn left on Valley Parkway. Turn right into Bonnie Park picnic area. Start near skate rental building.   This flat paved interpretive trail examines the changing land; succession from farm field to mixed deciduous forest.

North Chagrin Reservation

Hemlock Trail   3.5   miles   (2)
Take I-90 to Rt. 91 (SOM Center Rd). Turn left on Rt. 91Turn left on Strawberry Lane. Start at Strawberry picnic area on left. Following the two largest ravines in the reservation, this trail crosses creeks and valleys, providing many scenic views. Take same trail for return trip.

 

Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation

Towpath Trail    4 miles (2)
Take I-77 to Grant Ave. Go west on Grant then turn left on E.49 th Street. Start at Aqueduct Gateway (Bacci Park) parking lot.   Cross Canal Road, walk over the bridge and turn left onto APT.   Follow trail taking you over the new pedestrian bridges.   Continue your walk to Lock 39 parking lot at Rockside Road.   Take same trail for return trip.

 

Rocky River Reservation

River Overlook   Loop   .3 miles (1)
Take I-90 to McKinley exit.   Go south on McKinley.   Turn right on Riverside Dr. Turn left on Hog's Back Lane.   Start at Hogs Back lane parking lot. This sunny, level trail provides spectacular views into the Rocky River Valley.

Mt Pleasant 1.5 miles   (2)
Take I-480 to Clague Road exit. Go south on Clague Rd. Turn right on Mastick Road then left on Shepard Lane. Start at the north end of the Rocky River Nature Center parking lot. The trail crosses Shephard Lane. Enjoy the cool shade as you hike along the wetlands up to an older oak forest.

 

South Chagrin Reservation

Oak Leaf Loop Trail .9 miles (1)
Take 422 east. Go north on 91 (SOM Center). Turn right on Hawthorn Parkway.   Start at Squaw Rock parking lot. Following the rolling hills of this mature forest look for pileated woodpeckers and wild turkey.
