CLEVELAND METROPARKS SETS GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS FOR "LARGEST HARMONICA PLAY-ALONG" FOR AT CEDAR VALLEY SETTLERS CELEBRATION & MUSIC FESTIVAL
It was a beautiful 'first day of fall' on Sunday, September 23 - and even more so when Cleveland Metroparks coordinated a successful Guinness World Record for the "Largest Harmonica Play-Along!"
The enthusiastic crowd of Cedar Valley Settlers Celebration & Music Festival-goers rehearsed for about 15 minutes under the patient guidance of Bill Schilling, a local musician and loyal harmonica player. The record participants all gathered in front of the event's Main Stage, with Schilling taking the stage to coordinate the attempt along with members of local harmonica groups and members of the featured acts performing at the Festival (The Infamous Stringdusters and The Peasall Sisters). The event took place on the grounds of Frostville Museum in Rocky River Reservation in North Olmsted.
At 4:15 p.m., Schilling started the harmonica-playing group on their musical, 5-minute journey of 'Frere Jacques" into the Guinness Record Books! The new official record was set with 1,882 guests playing their harmonicas and putting their 'hearts and souls' into setting the new record!
The crowd of 1,882 let out a HUGE cheer, when it was announced that the record was unofficially broken. The old record of 1,706 was established in May 2005 in Seattle, Washington.
Cleveland Metroparks already holds a Guinness Record for the Largest Canoe and Kayak Float, established in May 2001 with 776 canoes and kayaks floating together on Hinckley Lake in Hinckley Reservation.
Greater Cleveland can celebrate another victory as Cleveland Metroparks sets the Guinness Book of World Record for the "Largest Harmonica Play-Along" at the "Cedar Valley Settlers Celebration & Music Festival" in Cleveland Metroparks - part of your life, naturally!
