2005 Greater Cleveland Amateur Champion
Tournament Highlights
· Weir, who a month ago advanced to the match play portion of the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship, will attempt to gain a berth in the 2005 Cleveland Open through the qualifier on Aug. 22.
· The first round/day leader was Dan Rush of Avon Lake, who shot a 69 on Friday, one of two under-par rounds on the day. TJ Nadon recorded a 70 for the other one.
· Rush finished second for the second year in a row.
· There were 14 under-par rounds during the tournament. The previous record at Sleepy Hollow was three. By day, the breakdown was: Friday - 2; Saturday - 8; and Sunday - 4.
· Brad Steven of Concord had a hole-in-one on the second day and shot a 73 for the round.
· Chris Okeson of Chagrin Falls finished eighth and will be playing in the U.S. Amateur. Avon Lake's Tommy Wiegand, who finished in a tie for 14 th , is an alternate to the event.
· Former club pros in the final field included David Griffith and Danny Madden
